What Do the 2017 Great American Eclipse and 2020 Have to Do With My Story?
It might not be what you expect...
I started my business when I was 25 years old. There was a flicker of an entrepreneurial spirit but I thought I was too young and dumb. However, during the 2017 Great American Eclipse, I had an epiphany of sorts. It was time to try helping small business owners with their content marketing or climb the corporate ladder.
CL Content Marketing launched and I jumped right into the fire. I had never taken a business class or had any clue how to start, much less run, a business.
I started small. Real small. I set achievable goals to see what I could do. My first goal was to have two blog writing clients and be able to pay our phone bill with my income. That’s it. That following year, I built my book of business step by step by networking like crazy, taking business classes at WCTC, and helping clients across the board. I would take pretty much any marketing project for anyone. I made a decent income but wasn’t charging what I was worth. To be honest, I was pretty happy working as much as I could and helping businesses with marketing. I may have continued on this path and been perfectly content except for one lil change in 2020.
My daughter was born in August 2020. A couple of things happened. First, I realized that I wanted to continue working but only for part of the week. Second, that I needed to focus on what I love to do and would help other businesses. Third, I loved helping photographers.
Today, I help photographers across the country with their content marketing by offering strategic packages designed to take content off their to-do lists while filling up their session slots. I get to do this while spending 2 days a week with my daughter thanks to strategy, organization, and my amazing team.
