What’s my why?
I help small business owners and entrepreneurs find their voice online through content marketing and turn fans into customers.
Cute, right? I didn’t come up with that overnight. That carefully crafted message took time and reworking. Once I started implementing this message into my marketing, I saw an increase of solid leads.
Why? Because now my audience knows I’m speaking to them and feel connected to how I will serve them.
I’m sharing this because I want you to know it’s possible to create your carefully crafted message that you will use in your marketing.
Below I share three questions you can answer to start crafting your messaging and find your voice online. Your answers to the questions below will be the starting components to your WHY.
3 Questions to Find Your WHY
Take a few minutes to answer each of these questions - jot them down on a piece of paper. Your answers are the first components to creating your WHY.
WHAT made you start doing what you do?
-Think about what inspired and motivated you to start your business or join your industry. You can be as personal as you feel comfortable.
WHO is your ideal client?
-Visual the person you serve. Is it a tired mom? Hardworking professional? Think of who your favorite client or customer is now.
HOW do you serve them?
-What problem do you solve? How do you make your client’s life better?
Finding Your Voice Online
Take your answers to the questions above and now put them all together. What’s your message? Read it out loud. Don’t worry, this isn’t the final draft! If it sounds clunky - GOOD. You’re on the right track.
Take those couple of sentences and rework them to make one sentence or snippet. Try reading that out loud. How’s it sounding?
Keep working on this. To be honest, this will take a few attempts.
Try to use this messaging in a social post or in a blog. Better yet, at your next networking event if someone asks what you do, try to say it and see how it feels.
After some refinement, you’ll have your messaging and start to key in on your voice. After you find your voice, you’ll start to connect to your ideal client and watch your business grow.
